2025 CGL LOST Online Charity Auction Details!
The most important detail you need to know about the 2025 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction is that every cent raised in this auction will be donated to the Lymphoma Research Foundation!
The LRF funds cutting-edge research to find cures, and provides vital education and support services to those affected by lymphoma. We selected the LRF to receive 100% of our auction proceeds this year in honor of my brother and all families that are or have been affected by blood cancers.
The 2025 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction is NOW OPEN, through August 23 at 4:15pm ET!
The auction will close numerically - one at a time. IF an item receives a bid in the final minute the listing is open, bidding will extend for 2-3 minutes. This will occur up to 3 times before a final bid is declared the winner.
**Update: FREE SHIPPING! We decided to cover all shipping costs, in addition to all Buyers Premium fees. Because we want to raise as much money as possible for the LRF, and entice new bidders + higher bids!
CGL Charity Auction REGISTRATION & Link
*PLEASE read all registration instructions and shipping restrictions below BEFORE registering. Thank you!
Registration for the Cancer Gets Lost 2025 Online Charity Auction is NOW OPEN and if you have a U.S. shipping address you may register at any time from now until 4pm ET on August 23 (right before the auction closes).
HERE is our official Registration and Auction link (it will open on our external auction host page)! After you click on that link, look for the blue “Get Approved to Bid” button in the upper right corner of our auction page.
After you register to bid in the CGL charity auction, you’ll see this message: Auction Approval Pending. We appreciate your patience, as we must approve each bidder individually. This process is necessary but quick, because we must double check that bidders have US shipping addresses for this particular auction. All reg approvals will occur within hours of being submitted, except when we are asleep or traveling!
Please scroll down to read the shipping rules and restrictions before attempting to register for our auction and then contact us if you have any further questions (CGLauctions at gmail dot com).
**IMPORTANT: Please register to bid using an email account that you actually check and use! It has become a challenging issue for us after charity auctions when we are unable to contact a few winning bidders because they never actually check the email they registered with.
Providing Method of Payment When You Register
When you register for the CGL 2025 charity auction on our external host site, it WILL ask you for a credit card. HOWEVER! It is for security purposes only, and neither the site nor CGL will charge anything to your card.
This is the message you’ll see when you register:
“By clicking ‘Confirm Your Information’ below, you agree to allow your credit card to be authorized for $1.00 CAD by ‘LIVE AUCTION GROUP PORT COQUITLA BC’ to ensure your card is valid. This amount will be held for 7 to 30 days before being automatically released.”
CGL Auction: NO Buyer’s Premium Fee!
Most auctions of this magnitude require winning bidders to pay a Buyer’s Premium fee per item, in addition to the winning bid and shipping cost. CGL is covering all Buyers Premium Fees (3% per item), so that you don’t have to! Winning bidders will only have to pay for items won + shipping. This allows CGL to donate 100% of ALL auction proceeds to the Lymphoma Research Foundation!
**PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU REGISTER
We kindly ask that you please only place bids in the 2025 CGL charity auction if you genuinely intend to pay for the items you win and have the means to do so. Unfortunately, we’ve experienced fraud with almost every CGL auction - which is terrible because the funds promised by winning bidders are then NOT donated to the cancer charity we’ve designated to receive all proceeds. If you win an item in our auction but fail to pay for it after, you will no longer be allowed to register for and participate in any CGL charity auctions.
FYI: after you submit your registration information, IF our auction host site notifies us that you’ve failed to pay for an item in a previous auction on their site (CGL or otherwise), your CGL 2025 auction registration will be denied.
* We ask that EVERYONE also please read the Terms & Conditions and Shipping Restriction details below BEFORE you register for our charity auction.
CGL Charity Auction Terms & Conditions
Disclaimer: PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL ITEMS IN THE 2025 CANCER GETS LOST CHARITY AUCTION ARE SOLD IN “AS IS” CONDITION, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
Cancer Gets Lost cannot be held accountable for any delays in shipping due to customs or carrier delays, weather or unforeseen circumstances outside of our control.
There are NO refunds! 100% of the proceeds from the 2025 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction are being donated to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
What is a Fiscal Sponsor and what does it have to do with this auction?
CGL is a 501c (3)-sponsored organization. We operate under the umbrella of our Fiscal Sponsor FJC, A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds. They are a 501c (3) public charity that provides management of charitable giving for small organizations like ours. FJC oversees all of the financials for Cancer Gets Lost, they collect tax-deductible contributions made via CGL, and then disburse final auction proceed checks to designated cancer charities on our behalf. FJC has earned a top 4-star rating on Charity Navigator!
Regarding tax receipts from FJC: if you win a CGL charity auction item and the difference between your winning bid and the starting bid of the auction item is over $250, you will receive a tax receipt. For example, if your winning bid is $300 and the starting price was $10, you’ll receive a tax receipt for $290. Please note: FJC mails out tax receipts to the mailing address you provide us with, usually 2-3 months after the auction ends.
Post-Auction and Payment Details
After the 2025 CGL Charity Auction ends and if you’ve won an item or items, CGL will email you an invoice within 24 hours that includes detailed instructions and CGL’s specific payment link! Please do NOT attempt to make a payment anywhere before you receive your CGL invoice. {Please never attempt to make a payment for a CGL auction item on the external auction host site iCollector OR via the PayPal app/site; CGL and FJC will never see or receive that money.}
The only acceptable method of payment for CGL auction items is PayPal, which (after you receive your invoice) must be made directly to the CGL PayPal account using the Donate link on this website (which directs winning bidders to the only CGL PayPal account, managed by CGL’s fiscal sponsor FJC, A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds).
If you don’t have a PayPal account, you will be able to pay for your auction items using a credit card via PayPal!
*Payment for the auction items you win is expected in full within 7 calendar days of the day you receive an email invoice from CGL.
ALSO! If the name on the PayPal account you use to pay for your auction item is NOT your real full name (i.e. a nickname or name of business), you must let me know! Because CGL does not have access to the PayPal account, I am not able to see any addresses associated with YOUR PayPal account. FJC sends me weekly reports of payments made to the CGL PayPal account but requires that they match the REAL FULL NAMES of winning bidders (for tax receipt purposes)!
Shipping AND Mailing Addresses Please!
After you receive your invoice for items won in the 2025 CGL charity auction, PLEASE email me BOTH your shipping and mailing addresses! I need your shipping address for auction items, and FJC needs your mailing address for tax receipt purposes.
Realistic CGL Shipping Timeline
Shipping will start in mid-September. I am quite literally a party of one and responsible for the packaging, labels, and shipping over 130 auction items!
In addition, people are still experiencing longer-than-usual shipping delays from all carriers due to many events that are out of my control, so I really appreciate your patience.
SHIPPING Logistics
ALL CGL auction packages will be trackable and insured. I will email you your tracking number(s) once your items are packaged and ready to ship.
Most small to medium packages, boxes and small flats (photos, small prints, etc.) will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail, unless the winning bid of all combined items is over $500. If so, they will be shipped via UPS Ground.
All scripts and high value auction items/packages with winning bids over $500 will require an adult signature upon delivery. That is an added expense that CGL covers for you!
If you win more than one item, I will try to combine them together in one package. The exception is posters, which will ship separately in poster tubes.
When possible, posters will be placed inside of poster tubes, and then inside of cardboard poster boxes. I prefer double protection because of too many damaged and destroyed irreplaceable posters and prints in auctions past. The only exceptions will be the few oversized posters, which will ship in extended sized poster tubes only.
With the environment in mind, CGL ships out auction items in primarily repurposed/used boxes. While the outside of your packages may not always be perfect, it’s what’s inside that counts!
IF you live within an hour of the Boston MA area, I can arrange a drop off in person in late September/early October! Let me know if you’re interested.
Each auction item will be accompanied by a CGL CoA (Certificate of Authenticity).
Shipping Insurance & Irreplaceable Auction Items
As you know, almost all CGL auction items are either rare or 1-of-a-kind. Some are absolutely irreplaceable. There is always a risk that a package might get lost or damaged in transit (which is entirely out of my control). If that happens to your auction item, CGL will have to reimburse you for your donation. Which means that CGL has to then subtract that amount from the grand total donated to the Lymphoma Research Foundation. So, I package everything up as securely as I can and hope for the best after items are shipped out! 99.5% of the time, CGL auction packages arrive in perfect condition, as intended. :)
In addition, although each auction package will be insured, if something happens to it – the carriers only ever reimburse CGL for a tiny portion of its value. Sadly, CGL has never recouped the entire cost of a package that was damaged in transit.
We Have to Give Back!
After all winning bidder payments have been verified by FJC (CGL’s fiscal sponsor) AND all auction packages have been received, 100% of the proceeds from the 2025 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction will be donated to the Lymphoma Research Foundation! This usually occurs 2 months after the auction has ended.
If you weren’t able to participate or weren’t necessarily interested in the CGL online charity auction but would like to kindly make a small donation to the LRF, CGL appreciates your consideration! You can either donate via their site directly or via CGL’s Donate button above on this site, and 100% of your contribution will be included in the final post-auction donation to the LRF (if you donate any amount between now and December of 2025 AND forward CGL your receipt)!
CGL Transparency
Full disclosure: I fund and run Cancer Gets Lost myself. I am a full-time volunteer and have neither kept or earned any money raised in CGL charity auctions (nor plan to). CGL is a true labor of love; I am deeply proud to have dedicated my life to fundraising for myriad cancer charities!
Thank you for registering and/or supporting CGL!
Thank you for your tremendously kind support of CGL and the Lymphoma Research Foundation! Your contributions will make an actual, impactful difference in the lives of blood cancer survivors and their families and help fund further essential cancer research.
You have my deepest gratitude, as this particular auction and fundraising for the LRF means the world to me and my family.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! (CancerGetsLost at gmail dot com)
Cheers!
Jo
