2024 LOST Online Charity Auction Update!

AUCTION DETAILS

The 2024 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction will be LOST-focused, celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the show’s debut! We have been collecting and curating items for this particular auction for over 10 years, and are excited for you all (everybody) to see what we have to offer. As usual, every cent raised in our auction next year will be donated to a designated cancer charity!

WE HAVE TO GIVE BACK!

Cancer Gets Lost is honored to announce that ALL proceeds from our 2024 LOST Online Charity Auction will be donated to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The money raised in this CGL auction will make an actual difference in the lives of children with brain cancer (and their families), from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.

We selected the PBTF not only because they are the largest patient advocacy funder of pediatric brain tumor research, but because of two specific reasons below.

1. As many of you know, CGL was created in 2010. Our very first auction in 2012 was LOST-focused, as the show had just ended and the fandom was still tremendously active. My dear friend Jackie was bravely battling brain cancer at that time, so we were inspired to fundraise for the National Brain Tumor Society (her charity of choice). And while she sadly passed away mere weeks before our first auction opened, we wound up raising and donating almost $60,000 in her honor.

So it feels full-circle for us to choose the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation as the charity to receive 100% of our 2024 auction proceeds, as our auction will LOST-focused once again. And we know in our hearts that Jackie would be 108% supportive of our choice to support a brain cancer organization that focuses on children.

2. Pediatric brain cancer is the most commonly diagnosed and deadliest childhood cancer in the United States. Fact.

AUCTION DATES

The official dates for the Cancer Gets Lost 2024 Online Charity Auction: May 11-18! Please follow us on Instagram, Threads and Twitter (all under @CancerGetsLost) for frequently shared auction item previews on both platforms!

AUCTION ITEMS

While we have an impressive and large inventory of LOST items for this auction, we are of course open to additional item donations if they are rare or signed and in good condition! If you’re interested in contributing an item for this particular auction, please email us (CancerGetsLost at gmail dot com) with details and photos from now through March 2024.

SHIPPING

Due to ongoing outrageously expensive international shipping rates and auction items getting destroyed en route to their final destinations, the CGL 2024 Online Charity Auction will be open to those with U.S. shipping addresses only. If you have a friend, family member or office in the U.S. that you can ship items to, you will be able to register for our auction!

With apologies to our very kind friends abroad - we simply cannot afford to continue paying for lost or damaged auction items. Sadly, it happens with every single charity auction we host. Full transparency: we run CGL on a tiny operating budget (self-funded). As you know, a majority of the items in our auctions are one-of-a-kind. Thus, irreplaceable. The costs to replace or attempt to replace auction items is out of our range.

In addition, reimbursing folks for damaged or lost items means that the charity we’re donating all auction proceeds to will receive less money. Which is the opposite of our entire goal and mission! So we appreciate your patience and understanding about shipping restrictions.

THANK YOU!

As always, we appreciate your kind support of Cancer Gets Lost and the many cancer non-profits that we fundraise for. Stay tuned for more 2024 CGL auction updates!

- Jo G. (CGL Co-Founder)
